Lunarline: Solutions Built on Security

Lunarline

Waylon Krush, Founder and CEO, LunarlineWaylon Krush, Founder and CEO
Lunarline is a leading provider of cyber security services, certified training programs and automation solutions that enable organizations to develop their cybersecurity posture. Lunarline’s automation tools help security teams streamline compliance, improve security operations, and deliver actionable cyber intelligence.

In this interview, Waylon Krush, founder and CEO of Lunarline, shares some insights about his organization’s cybersecurity solutions and services, their unique value proposition, and his roadmap for the future.

Fortifying Security Posture and Resilience

Lunarline is on a mission to help organizations tackle the pain points associated with security and privacy. Protecting the perimeter of an enterprise is no longer sufficient; security teams need to look beyond the networks and endpoints. Hackers have the potential to attack even well-fortified websites and networks, so protecting an enterprise’s valuable intellectual property and business data has become a great challenge.

In our experience, many businesses waste their resources–time and manpower–trying to secure legacy systems. We have developed security solutions that automate repetitive tasks, thereby eliminating the waste and saving organizations a substantial amount of time and money.

Automating Cybersecurity Solutions

A lot of organizations still think vulnerability assessments are too time consuming and tedious to be worthwhile. Part of the problem is that most security companies spend days doing assessments and then hand over numerous, complicated reports a week later. In contrast, Lunarline integrates various types of vulnerability assessments together and quickly generates a single, comprehensive report. We do this by leveraging GroundStation, our proprietary threat intelligence tool, to garner information about the threats and correlate it with assets within the organization. This enables security teams to make informed decisions and deploy a preemptive defense before a network is attacked.

Vulnerability scans are another big time drain for organizations. Sorting through all the scans manually can take security team weeks or even months, and by that time, the data is outdated and useless. Our solution is LunarGravity—a powerful reporting tool that quickly converts files from a vulnerability scanner into an easy-to-read Excel file that includes every known vulnerability. It also provides additional vulnerability information, including the vulnerability’s risk level, and a list of hosts where each vulnerability was found.

We developed LunarAirlock, a groundbreaking automation tool designed to safeguard computer and networking devices, while ensuring they adhere to compliance and regulatory rules. Out of the box, most devices are not securely configured, which puts pressure on security teams to configure and re-configure each device.

By applying the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) to each device, LunarAirlock greatly reduces the time spent on technical configurations.

Keeping tabs on the relevant news, security information and open source intelligence that can impact your organization is another substantial drain security teams. To streamline the process, we created LunarDownLink, a unique dashboard that highlights all the mission-critical information and intelligence that could affect an organization’s brand or services. We create custom links to a client’s social media accounts, open source postings, deep web postings, and even dark web chatter and postings. This helps organizations anticipate a threat, information leak or even spot indicators of compromise outside their network.

We also offer managed security services. With two certified security operation centers–one in Virginia and another in Ohio–we can provide round-the-clock support for incident response, breach assessment, or vulnerability assessments–365 days a year.

Success Stories across the Spectrum

One of our biggest successes came from working with a large medical device company. The organization was spending a great deal of time and money to secure their medical devices, yet it was still struggling to stay compliant and protect the devices from cyberattacks. We were able to build custom lockdown scripts that automated hardening and improved their cybersecurity posture.
In another instance, a client with an effective security operation center and security team was in search of a partner to secure their external networks. We helped them safeguard their systems using Managed Active Response Security (MARS), which helps identify and address security gaps in the organization. With this approach, we could thwart any attacks–whether they were from the deep web, dark web, or open source intelligence.

The Lunarline School of Cybersecurity:

Lunarline has assisted some of the largest companies and government organizations in improving their security and privacy programs through custom cybersecurity training. Apart from government and private sectors, we serve nearly every commercial sector, including the banking, energy, entertainment, and beverage industries.

As a part of our security program, we provide training and certification for thousands of people in the government and commercial sectors worldwide. Our training and certification programs include a plethora of courses that equip security teams with skills needed to navigate an increasingly complicated cyber world.

From regulatory compliance to ethical hacking and security operations, we offer courses that span the entire cyber spectrum. Our course offerings include security awareness, advanced malware, software insurance, cyber hunt, offensive operation, penetration testing and more. The Lunarline School of Cybersecurity is also associated with The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) ™ to simplify organization’s training, education, and certification roadmap.

An Unrivaled Security Team

To design and implement the best cybersecurity solutions, Lunarline recruits top-tier security talent with exceptional attitudes and aptitudes. Our strength lies in our highly skilled team members who have extensive experience in vulnerability discovery, penetration testing and intrusion detection. Our experts have supported numerous federal organizations, including the Pentagon, DoT, DoD, DHS, and NIST, managed IT programs for MC, Fannie Mae and HP, and testified before Congress on cybersecurity issues.

While we envision expanding the Lunarline product portfolio in the coming years, we’re also very focused on designing numerous training programs that will help security teams train harder and be more educated about cybersecurity.
